Sahrawi Activist Protests UN Decisions on Gdeim Izik

Original: Sahrawi Defender Protests over UN Decisions On Gdeim Izik

A Sahrawi human rights defender has protested against United Nations decisions concerning the Gdeim Izik case, the 2010 protest camp in Western Sahara whose dismantling led to trials and long prison sentences for Sahrawi detainees. The defender argues the UN's handling of the case falls short on justice and human rights grounds.

Why now: The UN's decisions on the Gdeim Izik detainees are seen by Sahrawi advocates as unjust, prompting renewed protest and attention to the case.
