Hegseth Announces New Four-Star Command for Autonomous Warfare
Original: Hegseth Announces AutoWarCom
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has announced the creation of a new four-star command, informally dubbed AutoWarCom, dedicated to autonomous warfare. The US military's new command will oversee the development and integration of autonomous systems across the armed forces. Reaction is focused on what the reorganization means for the Pentagon's push into AI-driven weapons and how quickly the new command will become operational.
Why now: The Pentagon is creating a senior command solely for autonomous warfare, a significant and contentious shift in military organization.
