Hegseth announces new four-star autonomous warfare command
Original: Hegseth Announces AutoWarCom
US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth has announced the creation of AutoWarCom, a new four-star command dedicated to autonomous warfare, according to Military Times. The move signals a major restructuring of how the Pentagon develops and deploys autonomous military systems, consolidating efforts under a single senior command.
Why now: The creation of a dedicated four-star command for autonomous warfare marks a significant shift in US military organisation and raises debate over AI-driven weapons.
