Neon Counters A24 With Open-Source SCP Foundation Film
Original: Neon SCP Foundation Movie Counters A24's With Open-Source Production
Neon is developing an SCP Foundation movie and will use an open-source production model, a direct response to A24's own planned film based on the collaborative horror fiction universe. The SCP Foundation is a sprawling internet-born mythos written by thousands of contributors, making rights and community involvement unusually complicated. The duelling projects signal that studios see major commercial potential in internet-native horror franchises.
Why now: Two studios are racing to adapt the same beloved internet horror universe in strikingly different ways, and the open-source angle is a novel industry move.
