Texas agencies take Flock deal to keep cameras running
Original: Betting that Abbott will soon restore funding, some Texas agencies accept Flock’s offer to keep cameras on
Several Texas agencies have accepted an offer from surveillance company Flock to keep their automated license plate cameras operating, wagering that Governor Greg Abbott will soon restore state funding for the program. The move comes as agencies weigh losing critical policing tools against continuing costs while the funding dispute remains unresolved.
Why now: Texas state funding for Flock's license plate cameras has been disrupted, prompting agencies to make a stopgap bet on restoration.
