Micro Center is reportedly asking customers buying gaming PCs equipped with Nvidia's RTX 5090 to agree to restrictions on exporting the machines. The requirement, flagged by PC Gamer, stems from US export controls on the high-end GPU, which is treated as a controlled product due to its AI compute capability. Buyers face extra paperwork and a commitment not to take the rig abroad, drawing mockery online about the burden placed on ordinary gamers.
Why now: New US export restrictions on the RTX 5090 are now affecting everyday retail purchases of gaming PCs.
