Portland Trail Blazers forward Cam Whitmore reportedly received kind words from his coach on the first day of training camp, a promising early sign in his bid for a rotation role. Why now: NBA training camps are opening, and early coach comments about players like Whitmore spark fan discussion about roster battles.
