Original: UW moves Global Innovation Exchange program to Microsoft’s campus in rent-free deal
The University of Washington is relocating its Global Innovation Exchange program to Microsoft's Redmond campus under a rent-free arrangement, GeekWire reports. The move places the academic program, which focuses on technology and innovation, directly alongside one of the world's largest tech companies, deepening ties between the university and the industry partner.
Why now: The unusual rent-free deal between a major university and a major tech company raises questions about industry-academia partnerships.
