Colorado Ski Resort to House 66-Year-Old Lift Operator for $700 a Month
Original: A Colorado Ski Resort Will House a 66-Year-Old Lift Operator for $700 a Month. Rent in Town Will Be $2,400
A Colorado ski resort has agreed to house a 66-year-old lift operator on-site for $700 a month, a sharp contrast to the roughly $2,400 he would pay renting in town. The arrangement highlights the housing crunch in resort towns, where service workers are increasingly priced out of the communities they keep running.
Why now: It captures growing attention on affordable-housing shortages for workers in expensive ski resort communities.
