Newsom's AI executive order reshapes USC's first AI cohorts
Original: Governor Newsom’s new ‘AI Kill Switch’ order shifts landscape for USC’s first AI cohorts
Governor Gavin Newsom has issued a new executive order, described by some as an 'AI kill switch', that changes the regulatory landscape for artificial intelligence in California. The move lands as USC's inaugural AI degree cohorts begin their studies, raising questions about how new state rules will shape the field they are entering.
Why now: California's new AI policy directly affects students and programs entering the AI field just as USC's first AI cohorts start.
