Ukraine Can't Stop Russia's Jet-Powered Shahed Drone
Russia is now flying a jet-powered version of the Iranian-designed Shahed drone against Ukraine, and it is proving difficult to intercept. The upgraded loitering munition flies faster than the propeller-driven original, shrinking the window for air defenses and interceptors to respond. Commenters are weighing what the faster design means for Ukraine's already strained air-defense capacity.
Why now: The jet-powered upgrade outpaces existing Ukrainian defenses, raising concerns about a new phase in the drone war.
