Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova claimed that Ukrainian forces used Western-supplied weapons over the past week to attack civilians in Russia, saying 41 people were killed and 274 wounded, including nine children. The figures and the characterisation of the attacks come from Russian officials and have not been independently confirmed. The statement fits Moscow's ongoing effort to hold Western arms suppliers responsible for civilian casualties in the war.

Why now: The claim ties fresh civilian casualties in Russia to Western arms supplies, fuelling debate about continued military support for Ukraine.
