GPT-6.1 Sol replaces GPT-6 Sol after just seven days
Original: GPT-6.1 Sol replaces GPT-6 Sol after just 7 days, with near-Astra intelligence
OpenAI's GPT-6.1 Sol has replaced GPT-6 Sol as its flagship model only seven days after the previous version's release, reportedly reaching intelligence levels close to Astra, the benchmark-leading rival model. The unusually short gap between releases is drawing attention to the accelerating pace of frontier AI competition and the narrowing performance gap between top labs.
Why now: The seven-day turnaround between flagship releases and the claimed near-parity with rival Astra highlight an unprecedented acceleration in the AI race.
