Vitalik Buterin backs Justin Drake's call for controlled migration to fresh addresses
Original: # VitalikButerin supports # JustinDrake ’s call for # controlledmigration to # freshaddresses amid # AIthreats to # ECDS
Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has endorsed researcher Justin Drake's proposal for a controlled migration of users to fresh wallet addresses. Drake argues that advances in AI pose a growing risk to ECDSA cryptography, a threat he says exceeds near-term quantum computing concerns. Both figures urge a gradual transition rather than a sudden switch, with lattice-based cryptography among the suggested defenses.
Why now: Concerns that AI-driven mathematical advances could break ECDSA signatures are prompting debate over how and when to migrate Ethereum wallets.
