Rubio sees no prospects for ending Russia-Ukraine war through talks
Original: Rubio says he currently sees no prospects for ending Russia-Ukraine war through talks U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubi
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has said he currently sees no prospects for ending Russia's war against Ukraine through a negotiated settlement. The statement from Washington's top diplomat is a blunt assessment of the stalled peace efforts and signals lowered expectations for diplomacy in the near term. Observers are weighing what it means for future mediation attempts and continued Western support for Kyiv.
Why now: The U.S. Secretary of State's pessimistic assessment of peace talks is significant news given ongoing international efforts to end the war.
