A developer says a legal team sent their PDF-to-Markdown converter a 40-page services contract that every desktop PDF reader could open, yet the converter failed on it. The anecdote is being shared in discussions about document parsing, retrieval-augmented generation pipelines, and how fragile PDF conversion tools remain when handling real-world files like dense legal contracts.
Why now: Frustration over unreliable PDF parsing in AI and RAG workflows is a recurring talking point among developers.
