Florida biologists

Biologists in Florida have removed 177 invasive Burmese pythons weighing more than 8,000 pounds in total, an effort that also prevented roughly 4,100 eggs from hatching. The removals are part of ongoing campaigns to protect the Everglades ecosystem, where the snakes prey on native mammals and birds and have become one of the state's most damaging invasive species.
