Cabo Delgado

The UN human rights office is highlighting efforts to rebuild the justice system in Cabo Delgado, a province in northern Mozambique battered by years of armed conflict. Courts, police and legal services were disrupted as violence displaced hundreds of thousands, leaving many residents without access to justice. Restoring these institutions is seen as a key step toward stabilising the region and protecting human rights.
