The claim has drawn intense scrutiny because of the high number of journalists killed in the Gaza conflict and ongoing debate over whether victims were legitimate media personnel or combatants. Critics and press freedom groups are demanding evidence, while Israel maintains the deaths were lawful strikes on fighters using press credentials.","why":"The extraordinary claim that so many journalists killed in Gaza were militants is highly contentious and fuels debate over the conduct of the war.","tone":"neutral","entities":["Israel","Gaza","Israel Defense Forces"],"summarized_at":"2026-10-02T20:50:37.610472Z","meta":{"via":"scan","lang":"en","term":"gaza","source":"The New York Times","published":"Fri, 02 Oct 2026 19:50:11 GMT"},"nw":null,"promo":null,"kind":null,"importance":null,"hidden":false,"hide_reason":null,"judged_at":null,"title_en":"Israel Says 170 Gaza Media Workers Killed Were Militants","section_name":"War","category_name":"Middle East","timeline":[{"captured_at":"2026-10-02T20:49:34.657925Z","rank":5,"volume":null}],"posts":[{"platform":"news","url":"https://news.google.com/rss/articles/CBMingFBVV95cUxNS1duakhoYXg4S3ZfZTIySWplZ05OZmdweERiM1dubXFQTC11MEZ1VUViZzA4LTZTYkVfT1JnaGdvbFhpZnprYV94Y1BSb3FYVHNpSTRkeHQ1MzhfTFFuem03WkVkQk9DcVUxMXgzQU5tNlRDVGttUEt6RndsaVFidi1rVlBBZWc2bFRWYmpVZUlleWdEcWZNQzhaSE05QQ?oc=5","author":"The New York Times","title":"Israel Says 170 Killed in Gaza Were Militants Posing as Media Workers","snippet":null,"posted_at":"2026-10-02T19:50:11Z","likes":null}],"elsewhere":[],"window":"7d"}}
