The decision keeps the renewable project on track despite growing pressure to convert land intended for clean energy into fossil-fuel and data infrastructure. Observers see it as a signal that developers may resist the industry-wide push to pair data centers with gas power, even as demand for computing capacity surges across the United States.","why":"Tension between clean energy projects and the boom in data centers paired with gas plants is a current flashpoint in US energy policy.","tone":"neutral","entities":["Clearway Energy","data center","solar farm","federal land"],"summarized_at":"2026-09-30T20:32:08.941208Z","meta":{"tag":"energy","via":"scan","kind":"status","lang":"en","instance":"mastodon.social","tag_uses":161},"nw":null,"promo":null,"kind":null,"importance":null,"hidden":false,"hide_reason":null,"judged_at":null,"title_en":"Clearway keeps solar farm, rejects data center and gas plant plan","section_name":"Environment","category_name":"Energy","timeline":[{"captured_at":"2026-09-30T14:29:49.941825Z","rank":6,"volume":3},{"captured_at":"2026-09-30T15:51:48.975528Z","rank":5,"volume":3},{"captured_at":"2026-09-30T17:13:48.557895Z","rank":4,"volume":3},{"captured_at":"2026-09-30T18:35:49.029351Z","rank":6,"volume":3},{"captured_at":"2026-09-30T19:57:48.696149Z","rank":6,"volume":3}],"posts":[{"platform":"mastodon","url":"https://mastodon.social/@thewildnews/117360351702695768","author":"thewildnews","title":null,"snippet":"Clearway decided against swapping its solar farm project for a data center and gas plant on federal land. # energy https:// heatmap.news/energy/clearway-e nergy-data-center-gas-solar","posted_at":"2026-09-30T14:00:50.936000Z","likes":3}],"elsewhere":[],"window":"7d"}}
