The effort would retire aging infrastructure that has been superseded by newer intermediate representations such as NIR. The change matters for Linux graphics drivers, as it signals continued modernization of Mesa's compiler internals, though timelines and affected drivers were not detailed in initial coverage.","why":"Phoronix reported a notable modernization step in the Mesa graphics stack, drawing attention from Linux and open-source graphics developers.","tone":"neutral","entities":["Mesa","TGSI","NIR","Phoronix"],"summarized_at":"2026-09-30T10:11:55.841316Z","meta":{"tag":"opensource","via":"scan","kind":"status","lang":"en","instance":"mastodon.social","tag_uses":918},"nw":null,"promo":null,"kind":null,"importance":null,"hidden":false,"hide_reason":null,"judged_at":null,"title_en":"Mesa Developers Begin Work to Phase Out TGSI IR","section_name":"Technology","category_name":"Software","timeline":[{"captured_at":"2026-09-30T10:11:50.208972Z","rank":2,"volume":0}],"posts":[{"platform":"mastodon","url":"https://mastodon.social/@kiltedtux/117359445082347366","author":"kiltedtux","title":null,"snippet":"Phoronix: Mesa Developers To Work Toward Eliminating TGSI IR https://www. phoronix.com/news/Mesa-Toward- Eliminating-TGSI # linux # opensource # tech","posted_at":"2026-09-30T10:10:17.031000Z","likes":0}],"elsewhere":[],"window":"7d"}}
