Measured clean builds of real projects get up to 54% faster on check and 42% on build.","why":"It was discussed on Hacker News alongside the claim that emitting metadata early can make building/checking Rust up to twice as fast, and the patches are being positioned as candidates for upstreaming to rustc and cargo.","audience":"Rust developers and compiler/cargo contributors who care about cutting build and check times on large multi-crate projects.","tags":["rust","compiler","build-tools","cargo","performance","patches"],"summarized_at":"2026-10-04T09:35:46.251572Z","summary_model":"glm-5.3-flash","fetched_at":"2026-10-04T19:06:37.806471Z","meta":{"license":null,"archived":false,"homepage":null,"first_stars":3},"pushed_at":"2026-10-04T15:08:42Z","created_at":"2026-09-27T10:52:57Z","watchers":0,"open_issues":0,"mentions_list":[{"platform":"hn","url":"https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=49951218","title":"Emitting metadata early makes building/checking Rust up to twice as fast","seen_at":"2026-10-04T19:05:40.346348Z"}],"snapshots":[{"captured_at":"2026-10-04T09:35:41.839949Z","stars":3,"forks":0},{"captured_at":"2026-10-04T09:51:52.644823Z","stars":3,"forks":0},{"captured_at":"2026-10-04T10:07:06.653294Z","stars":3,"forks":0},{"captured_at":"2026-10-04T10:36:40.152809Z","stars":4,"forks":0},{"captured_at":"2026-10-04T10:51:36.149797Z","stars":4,"forks":0},{"captured_at":"2026-10-04T11:07:00.141452Z","stars":5,"forks":1},{"captured_at":"2026-10-04T11:22:00.241883Z","stars":5,"forks":1},{"captured_at":"2026-10-04T11:37:00.118872Z","stars":5,"forks":1},{"captured_at":"2026-10-04T11:52:35.610742Z","stars":5,"forks":1},{"captured_at":"2026-10-04T12:06:44.943889Z","stars":5,"forks":1},{"captured_at":"2026-10-04T12:21:58.572999Z","stars":6,"forks":1},{"captured_at":"2026-10-04T12:36:53.540308Z","stars":6,"forks":1},{"captured_at":"2026-10-04T12:51:58.146987Z","stars":9,"forks":1},{"captured_at":"2026-10-04T13:06:36.783311Z","stars":10,"forks":1},{"captured_at":"2026-10-04T13:22:01.740111Z","stars":11,"forks":1},{"captured_at":"2026-10-04T13:36:37.640065Z","stars":12,"forks":1},{"captured_at":"2026-10-04T13:51:37.829912Z","stars":13,"forks":1},{"captured_at":"2026-10-04T14:06:37.899061Z","stars":13,"forks":1},{"captured_at":"2026-10-04T14:21:37.768021Z","stars":13,"forks":1},{"captured_at":"2026-10-04T14:36:36.094595Z","stars":13,"forks":1},{"captured_at":"2026-10-04T14:51:39.039935Z","stars":13,"forks":1},{"captured_at":"2026-10-04T15:06:38.140601Z","stars":13,"forks":1},{"captured_at":"2026-10-04T15:21:38.439746Z","stars":14,"forks":1},{"captured_at":"2026-10-04T15:36:37.589702Z","stars":14,"forks":1},{"captured_at":"2026-10-04T15:51:38.840976Z","stars":14,"forks":1},{"captured_at":"2026-10-04T16:06:36.874696Z","stars":16,"forks":1},{"captured_at":"2026-10-04T16:21:37.798687Z","stars":16,"forks":1},{"captured_at":"2026-10-04T16:36:39.740415Z","stars":16,"forks":1},{"captured_at":"2026-10-04T16:51:38.140348Z","stars":16,"forks":1},{"captured_at":"2026-10-04T17:06:41.530148Z","stars":18,"forks":1},{"captured_at":"2026-10-04T17:21:41.040090Z","stars":18,"forks":1},{"captured_at":"2026-10-04T17:36:38.478558Z","stars":19,"forks":1},{"captured_at":"2026-10-04T17:51:36.682684Z","stars":20,"forks":1},{"captured_at":"2026-10-04T18:06:36.791114Z","stars":20,"forks":1},{"captured_at":"2026-10-04T18:21:36.557051Z","stars":21,"forks":1},{"captured_at":"2026-10-04T18:36:39.643196Z","stars":21,"forks":1},{"captured_at":"2026-10-04T18:51:38.125834Z","stars":22,"forks":1},{"captured_at":"2026-10-04T19:06:37.807451Z","stars":24,"forks":1}]}}
