Digital certificate authority DigiCert has launched Quantum Central, a new initiative aimed at helping organisations prepare for post-quantum cryptography. The platform is intended to guide businesses through the transition to encryption methods resistant to attacks from future quantum computers. The announcement was reported by The Quantum Insider.

Researchers have used a quantum simulator to observe a strange process capable of breaking quark strings, the gluon-based connections that bind quarks inside particles like protons. Studying string breaking directly has been beyond classical computers, so simulating it quantum mechanically marks a step forward in understanding how quarks separate and how confinement works in quantum chromodynamics.
