Digital certificate authority DigiCert has launched Quantum Central, a new initiative aimed at helping organisations prepare for post-quantum cryptography. The platform is intended to guide businesses through the transition to encryption methods resistant to attacks from future quantum computers. The announcement was reported by The Quantum Insider.

Researchers report that a quantum simulator has captured a strange process capable of breaking quark strings, the bonds that hold quarks together inside particles. The experiment offers a way to observe string-breaking, a phenomenon in quantum chromodynamics that is otherwise out of reach for classical computers and conventional particle accelerators. Physicists say such simulations could deepen understanding of how matter behaves under extreme conditions.
