OpenAI DevDay

Attention is focused on OpenAI DevDay 2026, the company's annual developer conference. People are discussing what the event may bring, with developers and AI watchers anticipating new tools, model updates and platform announcements from OpenAI. Details about the date, location or agenda of the conference remain unclear, and reaction so far centres on expectations rather than confirmed news.

At its annual DevDay conference, OpenAI introduced a new AI agent positioned as a direct challenge to Meta's Muse AI agent platform, which is described as enjoying strong early success. CEO Sam Altman presented the company's effort to catch up with rivals, though questions remain over whether OpenAI can compete with free alternatives already on the market.

Sam Altman appeared onstage at OpenAI's DevDay 2026 to promote a new wave of AI companion devices, likened to Tamagotchis. Despite AI's success on phones and computers, dedicated AI hardware has so far struggled, but over the coming year at least two new devices are expected to bring always-on artificial companions to consumers.
