The University of Toronto has launched a new Office of Human Rights, Equity and Inclusion, a dedicated body to handle human rights matters and advance equity across the institution. The student newspaper The Varsity reported the launch. Details about the office's mandate, staffing and how it will differ from existing university services are not yet clear.

The fourth Toronto Biennial of Art has launched, bringing together more than 30 artists and collectives under the theme of rupture. The citywide exhibition positions the idea of breaks and discontinuity as a lens for contemporary art, continuing the biennial's role as one of Canada's major free public art events.
