Sudan's repeated ceasefire agreements, brokered in Jeddah and most recently discussed in New York, have repeatedly collapsed as fighting between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces continues. Commentators point to weak enforcement mechanisms, mutual distrust between the warring parties, and outside backers fueling the conflict as reasons the truces never hold.
