Colorado transportation officials report that wildlife mitigation projects along the I-25 South Gap corridor between Colorado Springs and Castle Rock have reduced wildlife-vehicle collisions by 91%. The projects, which include overpasses, underpasses and fencing designed to move deer and elk safely across the highway, are being cited as evidence that wildlife crossings work, drawing attention from planners and conservationists elsewhere.
