TikTok has agreed to pay Alabama $100 million to settle a lawsuit accusing the platform of fuelling social media addiction among young users. The agreement makes Alabama one of the US states to extract a major payout from the company over claims its app is designed to keep children hooked. The deal adds to mounting legal and regulatory pressure on TikTok in the United States over youth safety.
