The Pentagon is asking for $30.3 million over five years to build an AI-powered lie detector that can read body language from a distance without physical contact. The programme, called Polygraph Next, appears in the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency's 2027 budget request. The project is drawing attention over the implications of remote deception detection and the reliability of AI-based behavioural analysis.
