Chipmaker Cerebras has agreed to supply 100 megawatts worth of AI chips to Gimlet Labs, a cloud computing startup. The deal marks a significant scale-up for Cerebras, which builds wafer-scale processors positioned as an alternative to Nvidia's GPUs for AI workloads, and gives the young cloud provider a large dedicated supply of compute capacity.

AI chip company Cerebras Systems has agreed to supply AI computing systems to Gimlet Labs, a cloud computing startup. The deal, reported by Reuters, means the young cloud provider will build its AI infrastructure on Cerebras hardware, an alternative to GPU-based systems from Nvidia. It marks another commercial win for Cerebras as it pushes its wafer-scale technology into the fast-growing market for AI inference and cloud computing services.
