Pixelfed, the federated, open-source picture-sharing platform long promoted as an alternative to Instagram, has begun using AI, prompting criticism from some users. Developer Antimundo said he is stopping his recommendations of the platform over the move, with the complaint circulating among Fediverse communities who had championed Pixelfed for its non-commercial, user-controlled approach.
